Culinary Tips and Tricks

The only oil you need is olive oil

There are so many varieties of cooking oils to choose from, it can be costly to experiment but this is what I have learned.  You don't need vegetable oil or canola oil, use what you have sparingly as to not waste what you have already bought, but in the future, just learn to use olive oil for all of your cooking needs.  Of course if you are a big pastry chef, you many need those oils on hand but I'm trying to be healthier and pastries are not on my menu.  If I want one that bad, I will splurge on a nice bakery purchase as opposed to baking a temptation.  Eventually I would like to try out other oils such as grapeseed but financially, olive oil is the best for my buck and very versatile.  One of the healthiest tricks I have added to my kitchen makeover is an olive oil spray bottle.  I didn't buy anything fancy, no kitchen gadget store is needed.  I bought a tiny spray travel bottle from Target for .99 cents.  I filled it up with olive oil and I use it all the time!  Its a great way to lightly coat a pan with a healthy oil without accidentally using more than what you need.  I save money and I use less oil which is better overall for my health.  And there is no longer a need to buy Pam...whatever that is.  It's better for the environment too!
